How to choose the right ink for Epson Expression Photo XP-860 (and avoid common issues)

If you are unsure which ink cartridge for Epson Expression Photo XP-860 to choose, we suggest starting with your printing habits:

• If you print a lot (documents + photos), a compatible multipack T2438 is a cost-effective and convenient solution.
• If you want to stay with manufacturer supplies, pick an Original OEM multipack T2438 or replace individual colours such as Epson T2431 black when they run out.
• If you print photos often, remember the XP-860 uses light colours (light cyan and light magenta). Keeping them stocked helps maintain smooth gradients and natural skin tones.

Common user issues for the Epson XP-860 are usually maintenance-related rather than cartridge-related: printouts with missing lines, uneven colours, or problems after the printer sits unused. In such cases:

• Run the printer’s nozzle check and cleaning cycle (built-in maintenance).
• Use a dedicated solution such as Specialistic Fluid for Cleaning Heads Epson 250 ml when deeper cleaning is needed.
• Print a small colour test page periodically—especially if you print photos only occasionally.

And most importantly: if you’re choosing between OEM and compatible, remember that our compatible ink for Epson XP-860 is selected to provide quality on par with originals—so you can print confidently and control costs.
